Abstract

The purpose of this essay is to explain the importance of an individual perspective for understanding broader social phenomena such as the relationships between language, culture and power through the narration of a personal experience. Taking as a starting point an epigraph that describes “migrant situations” on journeys between Bolivia and Brazil, the essay explores different linguistic and cultural “islands” that shape identities in a context of plural living. Experiences are recovered in an autobiographical text as a means of highlighting school and social contexts, filled with life stories.

    Sou professora Associada da UFMS e atuo na formação inicial de professores em Letras, com habilitação em Português e Espanhol/Castelhano da Faculdade de Artes, Letras e Comunicação (FAALC).
