As raízes da semântica e a semântica das raízes: notas sobre “conteúdo semântico” em Morfologia

Resumo

Este artigo discute, de maneira panorâmica, qual tem sido a agenda de fenômenos linguísticos subjacentes à interface entre Morfologia e Semântica e como ela tem se constituído e se desenvolvido nas diferentes visões de Morfologia, desde o Estruturalismo até versões lexicalistas e não lexicalistas da Linguística Gerativa. Como argumenta este artigo, a pauta de fenômenos que podem ser chamados de “morfossemânticos” emerge como uma espécie de reação a algumas assunções alinhavadas no próprio Estruturalismo e, com o advento da Teoria Gerativa, ganha uma modelagem biopiscologizante, sobretudo em termos do que tem sido chamado de “competência lexical”. Ao final, este trabalho mostra como o tipo de visão de morfologia (de morfema ou de palavra) pode dar vazão à “descoberta” de diferentes fenômenos bem como de diferentes reanálises.
