Abstract

This squib raises some questions concerning the analysis of domain adverbs, mostly in the context of adjective modification. We compare these adverbs with degree modifiers and, through tests, highlight their particular behavior. We aim to demonstrate that the features of domain adverbs lack both a semantic analysis that distinguishes the interpretations of sentences with distinct syntactic contexts these adverbs may appear in, and a syntactic analysis that explains, by constituent division, their scope within these sentences.
